Opening Night for extension

AST Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy Clinic on the Rise

From their humble beginnings at Cuskinny Court a few short years ago, Adrian and Susanne Tanzer have come a long way in bringing their unique and revolutionary German methods of spinal and physiotherapy treatment to the people of Cobh and further beyond.

Some years ago, we highlighted through the pages of Inside Cobh the then progress and achievements of the AST team when they had moved to the old clock/wages offices at the Dockyard, Rushbrooke. They then had only three qualified people operating at their busy clinic, Adrian, Susanne and one other person. A year or so later and because demand for their services had increased so much, the clinic had to be moved to bigger quarters under the old yard slipway where additional rooms and extra staff were hired. Last week on the 5-9-08, AST invited a select number of guests and clients to witness the opening of another extension to the clinics facilities.

Adrian and Susanne have now hired additional space which allows for their administration and office section to move further west, thus allowing for extra rooms and space for additional patients and their 11 therapists who now operate at the clinic. In addition to this increased staff, there are two trainee therapists who compliment operations at the Rushbrooke clinic. The clinic also shares a big communal kitchen with local Artist Philip Gray and his staff whose neighbouring studios reside next door. Among the hundred or so guests at the function last week were some of the patients who regularly avail of the treatment at the clinic, as well as some very satisfied former patients, and representatives of Down Syndrome Ireland, The Mayor, Cllr John Mulvihill Jnr, Cllr Kieran McCarthy and Deputy David Stanton TD, and a host of local business people. It is indeed very encouraging to see a clinic such as the AST continuing to go from strength to strength in the community of Cobh, especially in our current economic climate where job losses are the order of the day.

It’s also heartening to see that such a high standard of physiotherapy treatment is readily at hand for the benefit of our many, athletes, footballers, hurlers and sporting organizations in Cobh. Long may it continue! Inside Cobh would like to wish Adrian, Suzanne and the Team of the AST Clinic many years of continued success. You are doing a fantastic job.
